Marilyn Camille

Kukpi7

My parents are Clara Camille, and the late Phillip Camille and throughout my childhood, they took myself, my six  siblings and cousins out on many trips throughout the SXFN territory. We learned the cultural teachings of hunting, fishing, berry picking, haying, etc.

I completed the Certificate in Business Enterprises and Self-Governing Systems with the University of Lethbridge and a Certificate in Aboriginal Community and Health Administration at the University of Northern British Columbia.

I have served one term each on Council and Chief, followed by eight years as Band Administrator with SXFN.

My priority is to work with all levels of SXFN Leadership, Staff, and Membership to identify the best approach to further engagement in the following areas of governance:

  1. The Treaty Process
  2. Child and Family Jurisdiction
  3. Stswecem’c Xget’tem Development Corporation (SXDC)- Community Driven Economic Development
  4. Training and Employment for SXFN’s current demographics.

I believe that this is a crucial step in Transparency and Accountability. Taking this to a community level will alleviate challenges faced by SXFN, allowing for a natural flow in leadership.
